1) Who Must Verify Their Identity with Companies House?

Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, identity verification is a legal requirement for:

All company directors
All Persons with Significant Control (PSCs)
Anyone incorporating a UK company

This requirement applies to both UK and non-UK residents and must be completed through Companies House or via an authorised provider.

2) Can I Verify My Identity Now?

Yes. We are fully authorised to carry out identity verification checks on behalf of Companies House. Verifying your identity early helps avoid delays, ensures you receive your Personal Code promptly, and keeps you fully compliant with legal requirements.

3) Do I need a UK address or UK ID to get verified?

No. Verification is available for both UK and overseas officers. You do not need a UK address or biometric passport. We accept a wide range of internationally recognised identity documents.

4) What Documents Are Required for Verification?

The following documents are required for all company directors and beneficial owners:

a) Primary Photo Identification (One Required)

Please provide one of the following valid documents:

Passport
Driving licence
National identity card
Government-issued residence permit card (with photo)

b) Proof of Residential Address (One Required)

This must be different from your primary photo ID listed above and must clearly show your full residential address:

Passport showing your residential address
Driving licence showing your residential address
National identity card showing your residential address
Bank statement dated within the last 3 months
Utility bill dated within the last 3 months
Government-issued residency confirmation document
Council tax bill (UK residents only) dated within the last 12 months

c) Selfie Holding Your Photo ID

You must provide a selfie while holding your photo ID.
Please ensure:

All text on the ID is clearly visible
All four corners of the ID can be seen
Your hand holding the ID is visible

d) Video Liveness Test

You will be asked to complete a short video liveness check.
A secure upload link will be provided as part of the verification process.

5) How Long Does the Verification Process Take?

Verification is normally completed within 7 days of receiving all required documents.
In some cases, it may take longer if documents are incomplete or if additional checks are required.

6) How Will I Receive My Companies House Personal Code?

Once your identity has been successfully verified, your Companies House Personal Code will be sent directly to your registered email address.

7) What Happens If I Don’t Verify My Identity with Companies House?

Failure to verify your identity and obtain a Personal Code can lead to serious consequences, including:

A full refund is available within 7 days if no work has started
If verification work has already begun, a discretionary fee may be deducted
